FAQs

Electricity Supply

Will there be disruption to my electricity supply during installation?

Yes, you need to allow for a 30-minute disruption to your power supply.

Will I have to change my electricity supplier?

No, you'll still be able to change your supplier whenever you want to, although you may wish to call us to make sure you are on the cheapest and greenest tariff.

Will I still be liable for an electricity bill?

Yes, you'll still receive a bill from your supplier, but free electricity generated by your solar system means that your consumption will be lower. If you are eligible for tariff payments, these will be indicated as a credit on your bill.

Will we need to read a meter?

No, there is nothing for you to read or monitor.

How am I supposed to know which electricity supply I am using? Is there some way to switch between solar panel electricity and power from my normal supplier?

If your solar panels are producing electricity when you are using an appliance, this will be consumed first. If more electricity is needed, or it is night time, electricity will come from your supplier.

If your system is producing more electricity than is needed in your household, it will be exported to the grid, and you will be paid for it.

Is there a limit to the number of electrical appliances I can use at any one time?

No, there isn't. If power from the panels is insufficient for your needs at any one time, it will be topped up with power from the grid.

Do I ever have to switch the panels on?

Your panels operate automatically so you don't need to do anything. In non-daylight hours, your panels will go into "standby" mode.
